CRPC – “Certified Remanufactured Printer Cartridge”

Today marks a pivotal moment in the future of sustainable manufacturing. Our toner manufacturer, one of the largest laser toner remanufacturers in the United States, has become the second remanufacturer in the nation to earn the Certified Remanufactured Printer Cartridge (CRPC) certification.

The power of CRPC resides in the stringent requirements and verification process which will reduce and eliminate fraud being perpetrated in the industry, thus protecting what matters most: people, planet, and principle.

“This isn’t about toner. It’s about truth,” said Ryan Van Quill, our manufacturer’s CEO. We’ve built our company by integrating the best in the industry—and this certification is our declaration that we will lead the next era. Not just with product, but with purpose.

The Problem:

The remanufacturing model has always been simple—and brilliant. Take an OEM cartridge. Rebuild it. Reuse it. Repeat.  For decades, remanufacturing has been one of the most effective and responsible models of the circular economy. Cartridges from OEMs like HP, Canon, Lexmark, and Xerox are collected, cleaned, rebuilt, and refilled—often multiple times—diverting millions of pounds of plastic and metal from landfills each year and supporting American jobs.

These cartridges are then sold at a fraction of the cost of new ones, creating win-win outcomes for customers and the environment alike. But this model has been under attack.

Over the last decade, the U.S. has been flooded with single-use “new compatible” toner cartridges manufactured overseas— largely in China — and fraudulently labeled as “remanufactured” or “eco-friendly.” These products are neither. They are made cheaply, used once – as they cannot be remanufactured and then discarded—leaving behind waste, economic harm, and broken trust.  “These products aren’t sustainable. They’re disposable.”

The Solution: CRPC

CRPC is a radical new standard—clean, clear, and uncompromising. It’s a promise that what you’re buying is real:

• Truly remanufactured

• Sustainably produced

• Ethically sourced

• Designed to perform

This certification empowers buyers to make bold, confident choices. It gives procurement officers, schools, agencies, and businesses the tool they’ve been missing—a line in the sand against fraud and waste.

“CRPC brings the industry back to integrity,” said Scott Hoch, co-founder of CRPC. “It’s how we take back control—from deception to transparency, from shortcuts to standards.”

A Challenge to Think Different

Our CRPC certification is more than an accolade—it’s a signal.

It says: We don’t accept the status quo. We won’t let unethical imports dictate our future.

“This is about raising the bar—not just for ourselves, but for an entire industry,” said

Joseph Bradley, CRPC co-founder. “Real change doesn’t happen in comfort. It happens in commitment.”

If you believe in innovation that matters, in sustainability that works, in leadership that acts—start with CRPC. Don’t just talk about values. Buy them. Build them. Be them.
